Recently, a group of CILFA students took a cruise on our beautiful Lake Annecy.<\/p>\n

The educational activity began with a French as a Foreign Language session at the Bonlieu Forum. The students practiced vocabulary by describing important landmarks around the lake. This document was prepared by their teacher, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric, and is written in simple French, making it accessible to students at the A1 level and above. <\/p>\n
The students then boarded the boat, which set off for Veyrier-du-Lac. Did you know that until the 1980s, a cable car ran from Veyrier up to Mont Baron, at an altitude of nearly 1,300 meters? See archival photos here: http:\/\/rbreda.free.fr\/tourisme\/veyrier\/veyrier2\/veyrier2.htm<\/a> <\/p>\n Today, the former departure station houses the Pays de Savoie and Ain Film Archive: https:\/\/www.letelepherique.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n The boat then passed by Menthon-Saint-Bernard and sailed along the Roc de Ch\u00e8re, home to an 18-hole golf course and a great place for hiking: https:\/\/www.altituderando.com\/Le-Roc-de-Chere-par-Echarvines<\/a><\/p>\n In Talloires, the boat changed course and passed in front of the Ch\u00e2teau de Duingt, which, unfortunately, is not open to visitors: https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Ch%C3%A2teauvieux_(Duingt)<\/a><\/p>\n Throughout the cruise, the CILFA students had plenty of opportunities to practice the language, and even though it wasn\u2019t a French class, they learned a great deal. Their teacher is from the region and was delighted to share many stories with them about the lake and its surroundings. This weekend (May 25\u201327, 2018), a major sporting event will take place: the Maxi Race, a trail run that circles Lake Annecy through the mountains. https:\/\/www.maxi-race.net\/fr\/france\/<\/a><\/p>\n For an easier ride around the lake, you can take your bike. The 40 km can easily be covered in a day (or even in half a day if you’re in a hurry). <\/p>\n
