DELF B2

Discovery

The DELF B2 (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is an a9> diploma officially issued by the Ministry of National Education a18> National Education Ministry which certifies an intermediate level a26> advanced of proficiency in French, corresponding to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level, the user has acquired a degree of independence that allows them to ‘argue to defend their opinion, develop a point of view and negotiate in a complex context.

Listening comprehension

The test consists of answering questionnaires based on two recorded documents:

  • An interview or news bulletin (single listen)
  • A presentation, lecture, or radio/television broadcast (double listening)
  • Maximum document length: 8 min
  • Duration: Approximately 0 hours 30 minutes      Rating out of: 25

Reading comprehension

The test covers two written documents:

  • An informative text about France or the French-speaking world,
  • An argumentative text.
  • Duration: 1 hour     Rating out of: 25

Writing

This test consists of writing a text in which the a9> candidate takes a personal reasoned position — for example: contribution to a debate, formal letter or critical article.

Speaking

The oral exam involves presenting and defending a point of view based on a short trigger document.

  • Duration: approximately 20 minutes
  • Preparation time: 30 minutes
