DELF A2

Discovery

The DELF A2 (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education. It certifies a basic level of French and attests to the candidate’s ability to communicate in simple, everyday situations, both orally and in writing.

Skills assessed

The DELF A2 assesses the following four language skills:

Listening comprehension

The test consists of answering comprehension questions based on three or four short recorded documents relating to everyday situations.

Reading comprehension

The test consists of three or four short written documents (announcements, messages, simple texts) followed by comprehension questions.

Writing

This test consists of two short written assignments, allowing candidates to:

  • describe a personal event or experience,
  • write to invite, thank, apologize, ask, or inform.
  • Duration: 0 h 45 min    Rating out of: 25

Speaking

The oral exam consists of three parts:

  • Directed interview
  • Monologue followed by
  • Interactive exercise.
  • Duration: 6 to 8 min Preparation: 10 min Rating out of: 25
