The DELF is next week coming up! To mark the occasion, here’s some information about this certificate!
When you’re learning a foreign language, deciding to take an exam can be a good source of motivation and give you a goal to work toward.
Among the various tests and certifications available to assess your level of French, the DELF and DALF are the most widely recognized.
CILFA is not only an exam center for the DELF and DALF but also offers preparation courses for the exams up to level B2 (C1 upon request).
What DELF and the DALF are?
The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are the official certificates issued by the French Ministry of National Education to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French as a foreign language (FLE).
These certificates correspond to the six levels of the CEFR: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.
Why take the DELF?
The DELF is one of the French language certificates most widely used by ministries of education around the world. It is a globally recognized certificate that is valid for life and certifies that you have reached a certain level of proficiency in French. It can therefore be a valuable asset on a resume if, for example, you wish to study or work in a French-speaking country.
The DELF A2 is the certificate attesting to the level of proficiency in French required to obtain a residence permit or a residence permit marked “long-term resident—EU” (Decree of February 21, 2018).
The DELF B1 is the diploma attesting to the level of French proficiency required for applicants for French nationality (Decree 2011-1265 of October 11, 2011).
The DELF B2 exempts students from any language proficiency test for admission to a French university (Decree of January 18, 2008). Note: The required level may vary depending on the requirements of individual institutions and/or academic programs.
How does the DELF work?
At each level, the 4 skills are assessed:
- listening comprehension
- oral production
- reading comprehension
