It was another wonderful afternoon for this week’s activity at CILFA. Our group rode our bikes to Sevrier along the beautiful greenway that runs alongside Lake Annecy.
Of course, we practiced French as a foreign language, once again in a magnificent setting: on a beach in Sevrier with the snow-capped Tournette (the highest peak around the lake).
To get to Sevrier, we took the greenway, which is the former railroad line that ran from Annecy to Albertville. This greenway is often described as one of the most beautiful in France. Our country has a multitude of bike routes and greenways that allow you to explore our beautiful regions: http://www.af3v.org/
At the beach, the students talked about their cycling habits in their respective countries. Frédéric then mentioned the cycling trip through Africa that he took with his brother about fifteen years ago.
He provided the contact information for a very friendly bike shop in Cran Gevrier where you can get your bike repaired and also buy bikes at affordable prices: http://www.roule-co.org/
We also talked about Vélonecy http://velonecy.com/, where people under 26 can rent city bikes for just €12.50 a month.

Finally, we took a look at the route for the upcoming Tour de France, which will stop in Annecy on Monday, July 16, 2018. The next day, the professional cyclists will set off from Annecy and head to Le Grand-Bornand on a stunning mountain stage. http://www.letour.fr/fr/etape-10
If you, too, would like to enjoy a unique cycling experience, you can take part in the 13th CilfaCyclette—a cycling trip organized by Frédéric every summer for CILFA students (dates for the 2018 edition will be announced soon). It is a four-day cycling journey offering total immersion in the French language, featuring visits to local towns, a trip to the wine museum with local wine and cheese tastings, and more. https://www.tezdev.cilfa.fr/la-cilfacyclette/
