To wrap up the week, we organized a very friendly travel get-together at CILFA.
After discussing the different types of tourists, the students presented their favorite trips using photos. We were thus taken to the four corners of the world to see magnificent landscapes: France, Italy, Spain (including the Camino de Santiago), the United States and Hawaii, the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and New Caledonia.
There were, of course, many discussions in French as a Foreign Language, and the students asked a lot of questions.
Finally, they watched a 30-minute slideshow introducing West Africa (particularly its many French-speaking countries) through the lens of cycling.
Did you know that there are 55 countries in Africa and that the population there totals 1.2 billion?
If you feel like it, by the way, a travelers’ forum will be held on November 24 and 25 in Annecy: https://www.facebook.com/forumvoyageurs/
A wonderful travel festival takes place every year in October near Annecy: http://www.grandbivouac.com/fr
Would you like to try a bike trip, too? Why not join the CilfaCyclette, which our school organizes every summer? https://www.tezdev.cilfa.fr/la-cilfacyclette/
A poem about travel:
Blessed is he who, like Odysseus, has taken a wonderful journey,
Or like the one who won the fleece,
And then he returned, full of wisdom and reason,
To live with one’s parents for the rest of one’s life!
When will I see again, alas, my little village?
Smoking the chimney, and in which season
Will I ever see the courtyard of my humble home again,
Who is just a province to me, and much more?
I like the living room that my ancestors built even more,
May the bold facades of Roman palaces,
I prefer the slate to hard marble:
More my Gallic dormouse, than the Latin Tiber,
More my little Liré, than the Mount Palatin,
And even more than the sea air, the gentle charm of Anjou.
